I have lived with skin disorders all my life, and the first 22 years of my life were particularly challenging with very dry, itchy & inflamed skin as many of you might remember. The fact that my skin looks so healthy today is due to many factors, such as going to therapy, hormonal changes, aging, a healthy diet, rest, moisturizing twice a day and yoga!

In 2021, I contacted FIRST to see if anyone was interested in doing a Yoga Therapy project with me. A resounding yes was the immediate response! In the years that followed, I kept in touch with FIRST by offering free online yoga sessions to the community. As part of Ichthyosis Awareness Month last year, I was asked to offer a short yoga therapy session at Beiersdorf in Stamford, Connecticut, a corporate partner of FIRST, to the US Derma Team to explore the link between yoga and skin health.

Two weeks ago I attended the FIRST National Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the first time. It was a fantastic time of connection, love, sharing, learning and friendship! Additionally, I was asked to lead a yoga session for the community, which was an amazing experience. My heart is full.

My journey to offer yoga therapy to people with skin disorders continues, and that's why I hope you'll smile and show kindness to someone who has affected skin. Living with a skin disorder can be challenging at times for some, but an everyday struggle for others.

What's Your Story? We'd Love to Hear It!
